Project Launch - Week 1

Hey it's Vieslav Dev. Last week we started working on our first big project named Strike Down: Arena. This will be a 2D platform, fighting game filled with many mini-games and arcade features. Our devlogs will be split into two sections, accordingly to what each of us do: one for the graphic and one for the programmer.

Graphics section:
Last week I managed to came up with an idea of a character and started animating his running cycle and his light atack animations . I wanted to make them a little bit rough at the time, so after we discuss the overall feeling of the game and all the mechanics in it I can go on and easily rework the animations. Also I feel like making a final animations now when we are still experimenting and coming up with a new ideas for the mechanics is a wrong choice.

This week I will be working on the next portion of the animations, hopfully I will be able to finish all of the movement ones (including dashes and jumping) and start on working on block animations

Programming section:
Last week I spent most of my time watching many tutorials and reading docs how to set up a good lan connection. Despite this I managed to set it up and from now on the game will be played through lan/hamachi. Also I spent my time making a sketch of our desired movement to make it snappy, but also smooth. Of course I created player controller too.

This week I will be working on adding next controls to player like dashing, blocking and light attacks. Also I will start to implement choosing random arena mechanic. If time permits, then I will also add player hp.

See you next week!
